Safe Zone Guides for Reels, TikTok, Shorts (with Free Templates!)

Content-making could be very tricky. Imagine creating an incredible video to discover your animated text hidden under Reel/TikTok UI zones!

Instead of wasting time, going back to your editor and fixing it, it would be much more convenient to have the safe zone templates in your pocket.

In this article, we’ll explain what the save zones are, how to follow them and, of course, will provide free templates for your use!

But what are the safe zones?

Safe zones are the areas on the screen that show UI elements, such as buttons, account names, descriptions, CTA and others.

The key is making sure that the content you create is centered in the safe zone, which varies for each social network. Otherwise, the viewers may not get the experience you need, for example, not be able to read the title you’ve added to your video.

If your content won’t be centered and aligned due to the safe zones, some information will be visually cropped and hidden.

Instagram Reels Safe Zone

Here are the save zones you’ll need for Instagram Reels:

Take 1010 pixels by 1280 pixels for text safe area. Set 220 pixels from the top, 420 from the bottom, and 170 pixels from the right side - to free your content from pesky platform elements. That's for boosted Reels, where a call-to-action button takes up some space.

Now, organic Reels are more flexible – no CTA button means more vertical freedom. But here's the pro tip: sticking to the smaller safe zone ensures your masterpiece shines even as a paid Reel.

Don’t forget that you also have to align a 1080x1080 pixels safe zone for the feed view of your Reel!

TikTok Safe Zone

Here are the save zones you’ll need for TikTok:

Leave 108 pixels from the top, 320 pixels from the bottom, 60 pixels from the left and 120 pixels from the right to fit in the TikTok safe zones.

You can go a bit further on the right and stick to the smaller safe zone to make your content look the best!

YouTube Shorts Safe Zone

Here are the save zones you’ll need for YouTube Shorts:

Leave 190 from the right, 70 pixels from the left, 140 pixels from the top,  and 270 pixels from the bottom.

Pay attention, that there’s a small 190 pixels hood from the right, where you can feed some information.

How to use the template

And finally, here’s how to use our safe zone templates.

It’s incredibly easy and will take just a second!
